for a cheap deal, i would suggest a ford mustang gt, a honda accord coupe, or even a honda civic si. mid-range: nissan 350z, infiniti g35, or perhaps a bmw 3-series coupe. high priced: mercedes benz clk-class, mercedes CL-class, or a bmw 6-series.

Types, coupe, convertible, 2+2 and sports sedans.
The Pontiac Solstice is “the cheapest” entry level sports car convertible. But you can buy a new Miata for less then those you will find at the dealer.
The V-6 Mustang will loose a lot of value just driving it off the lot (check out Yahoo’s cost compression tools under autos).
I will aways say that for the dollar a Miata has to be the best.
But if you want to throw money away on any thing else, do it (and leave the Miata’s for those of us who value a great car).
Don’t plan on spending less the 25K for a new sports car. If you but used, just realize you get what you pay for (when you are lucky , most of the time you get less).

To the “purest” I am sure that the only thing that is a true sports car is a two seater about the size of a MG TD.
But things have changed (old man). Now a sports car is anything that can hang with that Miata on a tight turn.
That includes the sports car sedans like the XKJ size and class of car, and budget priced care like a KIA sedans.
Yes there are those sleek RX-8 and their ilk too.
Just follow the link below and it will help you compare real prices and reviews, for the difference between a freeway cruiser and a sports car is the driver (not the car).
